Pam Fries is an award-winning Artist, as well as an Illustrator, and Author of the much-loved children’s book, “Something’s Eating the Garden”. She resides in Port Angeles, Washington. She enjoys speaking to schools and Women’s groups where she encourages and speaks on hope.
Her book has been featured on Fox 15 Kidlit TV, in newspapers, and she has been a guest on multiple podcasts.
The publishing of her book has been one of pain and grace. “Something’s Eating The Garden”, is about her first granddaughter and husband in his amazing garden. With his encouragement, she pursued illustrating and publishing her book. During the process, her husband got very ill and passed away a couple of months before it was to be published.
After being together for 40 years, Pam was lost after he died. Life was so different without her life partner. But because of God’s Grace, the book gave her purpose again. It gave her confidence and wings to fly on her own. She feels totally blessed, even though life is different these days.
When Pam is not working on books or illustrating for others, she paints commissioned pet portraits and spends time with her family. She is looking forward to the day that she can just paint for herself and explore mediums and techniques she has not been able to have time to do.
Work With Me
Commissioned artwork, illustrations for books, and speaking engagements. I’d love the opportunity to bring color and life to your projects!
Open the eyes of your heart, and you will find joy sprouting among the weeds of life.
~ Pam Fries
Pam has always enjoyed creating. She started her artistic journey by drawing graphite and charcoal pictures, but then she jumped into using color, which she never looked back on. Pam didn’t get serious about her art until after her children grew up and her husband passed away. It was then that Pam found herself with a surplus of time on her hands to pursue the one thing that had been calling for years: art.
God had a plan for Pam—a new amazing world opened up when she published the children’s book she wrote and illustrated as well as illustrating another author’s book! After those projects were completed, it became clear what Pam really wanted to do: create beautiful things from the heart.
